WNBR Brighton 2012

WNBR London 2012

 Well,
Anyone who has read this blog for a while will know that I ride the WNBR (or World naked Bike ride) most years. Effectively the WNBR stands for 3 principles
  • Pro bike(and bike safety)
  • Anti-Oil dependency
  • Body acceptance
This year's ride took place on the  9th of June and as per last year the weather in London was gloriou (the weather in Brighton was yet again not ideal)

Anyway. If you want to know what it's like to ride naked around the capital... Come and try it next year.

London to Hengelo

Dave and I recently went on a brief cycle tour, the long way round the Netherlands, to visit our old friend Adam. Highlights included a 20 mile dyke/road across the north sea, the sheer volume of public art, naked saunas, very flat riding and trappist beer...

Mostly Sophie in the new forest

Just been off camping in the new forest, which unfortunately meant missing most of the Jubilee celebrations, where we had a lovely time. Here are some of my holiday snaps, which for some reason seem to be mostly of Sophie.

Stuff and nonsense

Life as we know it

So I've just met a man called Eric. On first appearances he is a street hawker. A man selling paintings on the street.
“Are these for sale?”
“No. I'm just taking art to people. Would you like to see?”
Eric is showing his paintings to people in the street for no other reason than he wants to show people his pictures.

I guess that's the reason I post pictures on this blog. I had a formal art education (foundation focused on drawing and colour skills, then a three year degree focused on formal painting and art history). I've never shown my work after this period of education and I think this blog is an attempt to connect with an audience of sorts.
I am planning a film at the moment which will show where I am at the half- way point in my life, or rather cover  some of the things I think about.
Life is short and death follows us at every turn. I am lucky to be in a place in my life where I have a wealth of memories and experiences, but still have the possibility of more. My grandmother is 96 years old and has been old all my life. New experience is almost unknown to her, yet my grandfather ( other side ) is only just settling in to old age properly. I know which one I'll be.

A few pictures from the weekend

Horniman Museum and Abney Park Cemetary...

All these photos were taken without a flash. The photos at the Horniman are of the rather bizarre natural history section and the asian rooms. They are all on intellegent auto in the settings screen. I can alter the contrast, aperture, colour saturation and film style and the camera alters the ISO and shutter speed.

Abney Park is at the bottom of my road in London. It is one of two local parks (the pictures of trees and benches are in the other - about 2 or 3 posts back)
